Emarosa drop "131 Reimagined" and it's Beautiful

Emarosa drop "131 Reimagined" and it's Beautiful

Last year Emarosa dropped the LP "131". It is one of my favorite records from 2016, hands down.

I photographed them at warped tour that summer. Their set was incredible, and one of the only sets I stayed for the duration of after getting booted from the photo pit.

This past Friday they dropped a new four-track "131 Reimagined" with new versions of "One Car Garage" "Helpless" "Miracle" and"Blue".

Microwave announce headlining fall tour

Microwave announce headlining fall tour

I don't know about you all, but I am a very big fan of Atlanta's Microwave. They just finished rocking the entire Vans Warped Tour and are now set to come back through our area and hit the Crofoot's Pike Room alongside Big Jesus and Blis. Microwave is an incredible band and I was pretty shocked to see them on a smaller stage, maybe that's my typical delusion.

Taking Back Sunday and Every Time I Die at the Crofoot Ballroom in Pontiac, Michigan

Taking Back Sunday and Every Time I Die at the Crofoot Ballroom in Pontiac, Michigan

I will admit I was wondering how this show would pop off. Then a few days before the show it Sold Out. I knew then it was going to be insane. At first, my brain always goes to "Why isn't the heaviest band playing last?" but in this case, it worked so fucking perfectly. I missed All Get Out and could hear them rocking out from the line outside. After a mishap with my photo pass at the door, I got in a few moments before Every Time I Die would walk out on stage.

The Melvins crush Detroit so hard that the Detroit Police shut the show down

The Melvins crush Detroit so hard that the Detroit Police shut the show down

You have to know that headline is fucking misleading... So yes the Melvins played El Club in South West Detroit last Thursday. It was sold out, jam packed, sweaty, and filled with the huskier, bearded, beer-gutted Detroit elder punks and grunge fans. I felt like a thin baby at this show, like a god-damned stoner-metalhead in training and I saw this band for the first time almost 19 years ago to the day

Rings of Saturn Release New Lyric Video For "Parallel Shift"

Rings of Saturn Release New Lyric Video For "Parallel Shift"

Rings of Saturn are dropping a new record this month and they hit us with a new taste via a lyric video for the tune "Parallel Shift". Right now we're a week out of the new record dropping and I couldn't be more excited. Especially considering Ian and Aaron have shared our photos of them over the last couple weeks. That makes the sweat, the driving over an hour to the venue, and the fact that I did the show that these photos are from by myself so worth it. Check it out below and make sure to check them out on this year's Summer Slaughter Tour, alongside The Black Dahlia Murder, Dying Fetus, The Faceless, Ocean, Origin, Lorna Shore and more!

Bloodlined Calligraphy @ Facedown Fest in Pomona, California

Bloodlined Calligraphy @ Facedown Fest in Pomona, California

Everyone who has a deep appreciation for the healing power of music will get on board with a few bands from their area and latch on, hard. For me, one of those bands is Bloodlined Calligraphy. I have a deep love for the past and present incarnations of the band. I used to watch them in Ypsilanti at Mr. Muggs and The Elbow Room and Woodruffs and various spots all over Michigan. In the 2000s this band was my Michigan hardcore heroes...

#TBT Black Christmas 2016: Majestic Theater Headliners

#TBT Black Christmas 2016: Majestic Theater Headliners

The Suicide Machines and Mustard Plug are two of the most iconic Ska-Punk bands of all time, and they're both from Michigan. So it's kind of tradition to at some point around Christmas, that most Michigan punks and skunks see these bands. It almost always ends up being at Black Christmas. An event that takes over the entire Majestic Complex in Detroit, Michigan. At one point it was known as Motor City Ska Fest and had a lot less heavier or faster bands on the bill. Once it became Black Christmas, heavy metal heavyweight champs, The Black Dahlia Murder were obviously added to the bill. Local heroes helped up the ante on what Black Christmas is. In 2016, Black Christmas was sweaty, hairy, and a little less stinky than previous years. Thankfully, no stinkbombs were lit at the 2016 edition of Black Christmas. Originally these photos were on For The Love of Punk as that is who I photographed the show for. It was fun doing this event for them. Here are plenty of photos of Mustard Plug and The Suicide Machines.

The Plot In You - Feel Nothing Official Video

The Plot In You - Feel Nothing Official Video

Fearless Records artist The Plot In You drop the official music video for "Feel Nothing". Directed by Mathis Arnell this is a weird fucking video for a great song. I enjoyed it thoroughly as much as I was creeped out I was also quite comforted visually and aurally.

The Plot In You will be here in Michigan at the Shelter in Detroit. You can check out the Facebook Event Page HERE.

GALLERY: Lorna Shore, Bodysnatcher, Extortionist @ The Ritz in Warren, Michigan

Lorna Shore is one of the heaviest bands I have ever heard. I first got a hold of them (late as fuck I know) earlier this year before their record "Flesh Coffin" dropped. I was approached about shooting their stop here in Michigan in March. They played with Despised Icon, Carnifex, Rings of Saturn, Fallujah all at the Crofoot Ballroom in Pontiac. I fell in love with this band during their set. I have highlighted Austin's drumming a few times this year and the dude is a fucking beast. The rest of the band equate his energy, musicianship, and talent. This is a solid heavy as fuck band that will more than likely be melting faces for years to come.
