Rings of Saturn Release New Lyric Video For "Parallel Shift"

Rings of Saturn Release New Lyric Video For "Parallel Shift"

Rings of Saturn are dropping a new record this month and they hit us with a new taste via a lyric video for the tune "Parallel Shift". Right now we're a week out of the new record dropping and I couldn't be more excited. Especially considering Ian and Aaron have shared our photos of them over the last couple weeks. That makes the sweat, the driving over an hour to the venue, and the fact that I did the show that these photos are from by myself so worth it. Check it out below and make sure to check them out on this year's Summer Slaughter Tour, alongside The Black Dahlia Murder, Dying Fetus, The Faceless, Ocean, Origin, Lorna Shore and more!

Bloodlined Calligraphy @ Facedown Fest in Pomona, California

Bloodlined Calligraphy @ Facedown Fest in Pomona, California

Everyone who has a deep appreciation for the healing power of music will get on board with a few bands from their area and latch on, hard. For me, one of those bands is Bloodlined Calligraphy. I have a deep love for the past and present incarnations of the band. I used to watch them in Ypsilanti at Mr. Muggs and The Elbow Room and Woodruffs and various spots all over Michigan. In the 2000s this band was my Michigan hardcore heroes...

#TBT Black Christmas 2016: Majestic Theater Headliners

#TBT Black Christmas 2016: Majestic Theater Headliners

The Suicide Machines and Mustard Plug are two of the most iconic Ska-Punk bands of all time, and they're both from Michigan. So it's kind of tradition to at some point around Christmas, that most Michigan punks and skunks see these bands. It almost always ends up being at Black Christmas. An event that takes over the entire Majestic Complex in Detroit, Michigan. At one point it was known as Motor City Ska Fest and had a lot less heavier or faster bands on the bill. Once it became Black Christmas, heavy metal heavyweight champs, The Black Dahlia Murder were obviously added to the bill. Local heroes helped up the ante on what Black Christmas is. In 2016, Black Christmas was sweaty, hairy, and a little less stinky than previous years. Thankfully, no stinkbombs were lit at the 2016 edition of Black Christmas. Originally these photos were on For The Love of Punk as that is who I photographed the show for. It was fun doing this event for them. Here are plenty of photos of Mustard Plug and The Suicide Machines.

The Plot In You - Feel Nothing Official Video

The Plot In You - Feel Nothing Official Video

Fearless Records artist The Plot In You drop the official music video for "Feel Nothing". Directed by Mathis Arnell this is a weird fucking video for a great song. I enjoyed it thoroughly as much as I was creeped out I was also quite comforted visually and aurally.

The Plot In You will be here in Michigan at the Shelter in Detroit. You can check out the Facebook Event Page HERE.

GALLERY: Lorna Shore, Bodysnatcher, Extortionist @ The Ritz in Warren, Michigan

Lorna Shore is one of the heaviest bands I have ever heard. I first got a hold of them (late as fuck I know) earlier this year before their record "Flesh Coffin" dropped. I was approached about shooting their stop here in Michigan in March. They played with Despised Icon, Carnifex, Rings of Saturn, Fallujah all at the Crofoot Ballroom in Pontiac. I fell in love with this band during their set. I have highlighted Austin's drumming a few times this year and the dude is a fucking beast. The rest of the band equate his energy, musicianship, and talent. This is a solid heavy as fuck band that will more than likely be melting faces for years to come.

Lorna Shore Kick Off Headlining Tour With Guitar Play-through of Title Track "Flesh Coffin"

Lorna Shore Kick Off Headlining Tour With Guitar Play-through of Title Track "Flesh Coffin"

This band man... Lorna Shore... For fuck's sake. So at the beginning of the year, I was like Emmure will probably have the heaviest record of the year for me. And I was wrong. The fucking brutal Deathcore stylings of Lorna Shore combine Technical Death Metal, some of the heaviest Deathcore breakdowns ever, Symphonic sounds, and one of the fastest most belligerent and ridiculous drummers in all of metal.

Riot Fest TV Debuts First Trailer for New Jawbreaker Documentary "Don't Break Down"

Riot Fest TV Debuts First Trailer for New Jawbreaker Documentary "Don't Break Down"

It's no secret, Jawbreaker is playing Riot Fest this year. After the first phase lineup was released, I honestly haven't seen one person bitch about it. I feel like if I do come across this lonely sap who is mad at the lineup is either too young to give a shit or just an old grumpasaurus rex. Enough about the lineup, check out the trailer for "Don't Break Down" below featuring the great Steve Albini. "We are talking about Jawbreaker right not Jawbox?"

Holy shit the trailer for The Dark Tower is out!

Holy shit the trailer for The Dark Tower is out!

So, of course, I busted out some dabs and then watched this full screen in HD. Mother of God, this looks so much better than I expected it to be. The long awaited screen adaptation of Stephen King's iconic Dark Tower officially has a trailer. I made all sorts of noises during the almost 3-minute trailer. See for yourselves how insane this looks, already seems like it's been worth the wait. The battle of two worlds is between two men, The Gunslinger (Idris Elba) and the Man In Black (Matthew MaConaughey). The ultimate Good Vs. Evil story hits theater 's August 4th, 2017.

WARPED TOUR 2016: Every Time I Die! Live at the Palace of Auburn Hills

WARPED TOUR 2016: Every Time I Die! Live at the Palace of Auburn Hills

The last gallery from Warped Tour 2016 in Auburn Hills is from one of my favorite Hardcore bands ever. Every Time I Die. I really don't need to go into why they are one of the most unique groups of musicians out there. I really can't tell you how many times I have seen them because I have honestly lost count. What I can say is this set meant a lot to me and I could feel that it meant even more to them.

Decapitated, Thy Art Is Murder, Fallujah, and Ghost Bath Announce Tour

Decapitated, Thy Art Is Murder, Fallujah, and Ghost Bath Announce Tour

Decapitated have announced a tour with Thy Art Is Murder, Fallujah, and Ghost Bath. Sorry Detroit friends, looks like you'll have to make the trek to Grand Rapids or if you have an advanced ID or passport Toronto. This would be worth the drive as we just shot Falluja in March and they were incredible live, and they're not even a co-headliner. If you can, make it to one of these shows!

Ecepta - Eternity Is Future Garage Bliss

Ecepta seems to be dropping tunes every few weeks and his tune Eternity is fantastic. It is definitely one of the more beautiful tracks I have heard in 2017. I checked out the rest of his EP and am working through his discography, and I really dig his brand of Future Garage. It's atmospheric and light and perfect for weekend vibes, stoked to hear more for the summer!

WATCH: Tiny Moving Parts - "Minnesota" (Guitar Playthrough)

I feel like a lot of times I say the phrase "Do I even have to say this shit?"

Do I even have to say this shit? Do I have to tell you why to take less than 4 minutes and watch as Eddie Van Walen finger-taps his way further into our hearts and minds alongside an equally unique rhythm section. Tiny Moving Parts is a band that I can only hope see's even more success and longevity. Needless to say I am stoked to photograph them this weekend.

Muzzy Drops Beautiful and Big Tune with Charlotte Haining

Muzzy Drops Beautiful and Big Tune with Charlotte Haining

Beautiful. Etheral. Atmospheric. Enlightening. All perfectly describe the intro to Muzzy's "Outsiders" featuring Charlotte Haining. Once the beat comes in, holy fuck does it feel good to hear tunes that just flip the script on beauty and bass. I fucking love this shit. It fucking pains me that the amount of people in America that listen to Drum and Bass, whether it be more mainstream stuff or trancey sounding DNB, to jungle and jump up, is so fucking little. It's in all our video games. It's in our movies. Television. Marketing. Trailers. It creeps into mainstream music and shit too, and this is the type I find myself wondering why it hasn't taken off yet. The deeper side of Drum and Bass has always been a favorite amongst all genres. I listen to it daily. I had for years an Ultima C song as my alarm clock because it just worked. And for shit like that, I am here. Pushing more DnB even more in my 30s. Check out this tune and give Muzzy some love.
