Andrew WK at St Andrews Hall (Gallery)

Andrew WK brought his full band to Detroit's St Andrews Hall on October 18th, 2017.  The King of Partying is a Michigan man. Which means one thing, the dawn of the true Party started in the 734. It's been a minute since I heard of Andrew bringing the full band on tour and some lineup changes made for an epic performance.

Around The Fur, Deftones Sophomore Record Turns 20 This Weekend

Around The Fur, Deftones Sophomore Record Turns 20 This Weekend

I was 14, a freshman at Glen Brook South High School in Glenview, Illinois. I was already an avid Deftones fan but they had yet to become what they mean to me today. That is of course until this record dropped. Some have asked me "Why do you have Adrenaline tattooed on you if Around The Fur is your favorite?" It's because I haven't gotten around to it.

Slaves and Secrets at The Loving Touch in Ferndale, Michigan

Slaves and Secrets at The Loving Touch in Ferndale, Michigan

Tuesday, September 19th, Stacie and I made our way out to Ferndale to check out the Slaves and Secrets tour. While I may have taken way too long to get ready, I blame the dabs. We made it there just in time to watch the last two bands. Both were plagued by delayed sets due to technical difficulties that seemed to be all on the venue's staff. It's not to say that things didn't get fucking wild because they did. I'm just saying when you push sets back and give musicians time to drink and party, more than they definitely need to, then you should expect what happened as normalcy.

Veil of Maya drop massive video for "Overthrow" and it is insane!

Veil of Maya drop massive video for "Overthrow" and it is insane!

Veil of Maya dropped the video for “Overthrow” a few weeks ago and it is absolutely fucking wild! Not only is the video chaotic and intense, the song is incredibly brutal. Even with melodic vocals ( I don't understand why people bitch about clean vocals, stop, just shut the fuck up) as fitting as they are, Veil of Maya bring brutal Djent rhythm's to back up the idea that this is one of the best bands out there today.

Emarosa drop "131 Reimagined" and it's Beautiful

Emarosa drop "131 Reimagined" and it's Beautiful

Last year Emarosa dropped the LP "131". It is one of my favorite records from 2016, hands down.

I photographed them at warped tour that summer. Their set was incredible, and one of the only sets I stayed for the duration of after getting booted from the photo pit.

This past Friday they dropped a new four-track "131 Reimagined" with new versions of "One Car Garage" "Helpless" "Miracle" and"Blue".

Microwave announce headlining fall tour

Microwave announce headlining fall tour

I don't know about you all, but I am a very big fan of Atlanta's Microwave. They just finished rocking the entire Vans Warped Tour and are now set to come back through our area and hit the Crofoot's Pike Room alongside Big Jesus and Blis. Microwave is an incredible band and I was pretty shocked to see them on a smaller stage, maybe that's my typical delusion.

Taking Back Sunday and Every Time I Die at the Crofoot Ballroom in Pontiac, Michigan

Taking Back Sunday and Every Time I Die at the Crofoot Ballroom in Pontiac, Michigan

I will admit I was wondering how this show would pop off. Then a few days before the show it Sold Out. I knew then it was going to be insane. At first, my brain always goes to "Why isn't the heaviest band playing last?" but in this case, it worked so fucking perfectly. I missed All Get Out and could hear them rocking out from the line outside. After a mishap with my photo pass at the door, I got in a few moments before Every Time I Die would walk out on stage.

The Melvins crush Detroit so hard that the Detroit Police shut the show down

The Melvins crush Detroit so hard that the Detroit Police shut the show down

You have to know that headline is fucking misleading... So yes the Melvins played El Club in South West Detroit last Thursday. It was sold out, jam packed, sweaty, and filled with the huskier, bearded, beer-gutted Detroit elder punks and grunge fans. I felt like a thin baby at this show, like a god-damned stoner-metalhead in training and I saw this band for the first time almost 19 years ago to the day
